How to Open TikTok Links on Messenger — Unlock the New Update
TikTok links weren’t directly opening in the Messenger app until recently. Instead, to access the film, users would need to copy the link and paste it into a web browser. This is no longer the case, though. TikTok links now open immediately in the Messenger app, making it simpler for users to share and access TikTok videos as of February 2023.
Simply tap on a TikTok link to open it in Messenger. The Messenger app will then launch with the video. You will be asked to log into TikTok if you haven’t done so already.
How to Open TikTok Links on Messenger in the Browser
TikTok links from Messenger can be opened in a browser in a number of different ways.
Method 1: Turn on Messenger’s “Open Links in Default Browser” Feature
Only Android devices can do this. This is how you do it:
- Open the Messenger application.
- In the top-left corner, tap on your profile photo.
- Press “Photos & Media” once.
- Click “Open Links in Default Browser” to enable it.
- Now, your default browser will open when you touch on a TikTok link in Messenger.

Method 2: Open the URL in a New Tab
If you’re using a desktop browser, you can choose “Open in New Tab” from the context menu by right-clicking the link. Regardless of whether you have Messenger’s “Open Links in Default Browser” setting activated, this will open the link in your default browser.
Method 3: Use the Messenger Web App
To open TikTok links, you can also use the Messenger web application. To do this, open a browser window and sign in to your account at https://www.messenger.com. Following that, click the URL you want to open.

You can open TikTok links in Messenger using a workaround if you use iOS or if the in-app browser isn’t functional for you. Follow these steps to accomplish this:
- Open the Messenger application.
- To open a link, simply tap on it.
- In the message’s upper right corner, click the three dots.
- “Open in Safari” must be tapped.
- By tapping on the TikTok icon in the address bar, you may then switch to the TikTok app when this opens the link in Safari.
